My wife fell on our deck about 3 months ago, landed on her butt with both feet out in front of her. We went to the doctor because she was in alot of pain. The doctor said its spinal shock syndrome and just gave her pain meds, said it would heal in time. Well the pain never went away and last week she had Xrays and MRI done. Turns out she has three fractured vertabrea in her back. Shes a teacher and has crappy insurance( like most americans) so a couple of people suggested that I turn it into my home owners insurace. Before I call and look like a dummy has anyone else ever heard of this? I understand if someone else was hurt on my property but if the actual homeowner was hurt...just sounds strange to me. I know several married couples where they have two different insurance policies through each of their employers, and they get to pick and choose which one to use. I don't have a spouse. I know several people who are alcoholics who have an HMO through their retirement and they are in the hospital every other month, simply because they have over drank. They run to the doctor every two months for very trivial things/ I know of several who abuse the veterans hospital from runny noses to a simple headache, plus they are paid monthly for a disabilty they don't have. They just don't want to work. I think married couples should only be able to use one insurance policy, and these others should be only allowed to go to the doctor a few times a year. I took out an insurance policy with swinton Insurance they quoted me 250.00 I agreed to this amount. I have been driving for over 12 years with no claim made against my policy. Due to the way my previous insurer only counted 5 years no claims bonus insurance that is all they have a record plus three years I was with them. Because the new insurer uses 9 years no claims they now want me to pay an extra 22.00 I know on the one hand this is not a lot of money on the other hand I don't see why I should have to pay it. I just got a job offer for 40,000 with 75% benefits paid. Ill be living at home with my parents and im covered under their health insurance until im 26. Can I ask them to not pay for insurance and give me a higher salary instead? Has anyone heard of this happening? Thanks

How will the grandfathered in medical insurance work for Obamacare?

I have had an individual plan since 2004. I just read you can be grandfathered into plans that don't provide coverage options required under the Affordable Care Act. This sure doesn't sound good!! It sounds like if I want protection, I will have to pay twice as much as I am now on the exchange, which I thought was supposed to lower cost. Obama said someone can keep the insurance they have if they'd like, which is half the price as the exchange, so who wouldn't want to pay half as much? If it's not covered under the Affordable Care Act, does that mean I still could be dropped or denied? Why call it the Affordable Care Act when it is only affordable to very low income people? I am middle class, and I read that only 9% of Americans make between $50,000 to $75,000. Do you think this sounds right? This is hard for me to believe.

Why does California suck so much?!?!?

UGH! I'm a teenager, who drives a 2001 Honda Accord, right? I've been driving for almost two years (this November) and I had my insurance set up that I pay it every 6 months and it would accumulate to $720.90. I've always paid my insurance a week or two ahead of time and my driving record is perfect thus far. But then, I get my insurance this time and now it's $777.90 dollars!!! It increased $57 out of nowhere. I called and it's because of North Carolina doing a business deal with California and California increased everything or something. I know that sounds sketchy. I have Progressive, by the way. And no, they don't offer any student discounts (I got straight A's when I was in high school and now I'm in college and I still get them) but they don't acknowledge that because California or whatever took the rights away to lend out such discounts. My question is: why does California suck so much? It isn't fair whatsoever... $1600 (almost) a year for insurance on a 2001 Honda Acoord is ridiculous. Is there any cheaper insurances out there besides Progressive?

Why would identical auto insurance policies vary in price?

I currently have my auto insurance through Progressive and have been a customer of theirs for almost 10 years. I have a flawless driving record with no violations or tickets and no claims filed. My policy is up for renewal in December and is due for a sharp increase despite maintaining a spotless record and after years of steady decline. I was told that the rate is going up due to the cost of doing business . I decided to shop around and get quotes from competing companies and was absolutely floored by the discrepancy in prices; it almost seems like I am getting ripped off by my current carrier.
